A strike by longshoremen at the Port of Oakland on the West Coast of the United States has shut down several container terminals, including Everport, TraPac, OICT and Howard, bringing terminal operations to a complete halt.
As you may or may not have heard, labor decided to picket all terminals in Oakland today. Since there is no contract in place, there is no arbitration mechanism that would put them back to work.
We are waiting until end of the day for any impacts to working the vessels, but the yard has been closed for first shift. we are ordering labor for tonight and fully intend to operate a night gate.
Due to this closure and limited availability to appointments,we have extended LFD s to Friday on all cargo with the exception of anything already in demurrage.
In addition to day shift,OICT will be open for a full gate Friday night 11/4. We suggest customers/truckers make their appointments.
During the epidemic, you shall wear Lanhine’s face mask.
